And i've already had a go at one of the tasks in the first workbook. I think i did ok. I'm not supposed to start until June the first but i thought i'd attempt the first task. The tasks lead upto the first assignment which my tutor will assess (2 assignments). Then the final assement is marked by another tutor, i should get my results 2-3 months after the cut off date for that final assignment. I'm feeling good about the course, it looks to be pretty straight forward and the type of work i enjoyed in English langauge lessons.

I just need to work out when and where i work on the assignments.
I can't remember how to do LJ cuts at the moment, so sorry.
Anyway heres my first attempt:

Why is change happening to Donna, Hardeep, Kath and Stuart ? For each of these 4 examples, make a brief note of the main reason  or cause behind the changes they are facing.

Change is happening for each of these 4 people due to changing life circumstances. These changes can be unexpected and quite challenging. These changes can be due to changing work patterns, children growing up and unexpected events like a death of a partner or family member.

Donna is facing changes due to her children being at school and wanting to return to paid work. She has an intrest in working with children, but is unsure of the skills she has to offer. She has worked part time at her daughters playgroup which she enjoyed and has provided her with the desire to work with children. The reason for this change is that Donna now finds herself at a loose end now that her children are at school, so the phase of being a fulltime mother in the sense of having small children around that have to be looked after has progressed to those children being at school, which means Donna has spare time which she can use to retrain and therefore be able to work with children in a paid capacity.

Hardeep is facing change because of the changing environment in his current career of being a skilled worker in the car industry, which he has been doing for 10 years. He feels that his job could be the next to go, so he feels he needs to learn new skills to keep his job or to find a new line of work. He is however unsure of how to proceed. He is in his late 20’s and may well be facing changes he did not expect at that stage of his life – learning new skills to keep his job or to find a new career.

Kath is her in 40’s and left school at 16. She feels that she did not achieve her full potential at school, and has had a number of office jobs which she has never really felt fulfilled by. She has been  unemployed for 2 years, after the company she worked for closed down. She is now looking to get into a new line of work and has been looking at  college courses available at her local college in her local library. She would like to gain a new set of skills so she can change her line of work. She is however unsure if she has what it takes to become a student or what she would like to study.

Stuart is facing change due to the death of his wife. His children have also left home and he feels that he needs to find a new purpose in life as his old life has gone forever. He has a secure job but feels that there is more to life than work. He would like to find new interests and a new purpose in life.
