Harry Potter fanwank ahead. I would like Julia's expert view and anyone else who can be arsed to comment. Which is zero probably.
This theory has been doing the rounds shortly after the half blood prince was released. The basic idea of the theory is that when Voldemorts killing curse backfired on him, he had started the process of making a horcrux just before, and that Harry or his scar became a Horcrux.
I think it is a rather obvious and simple solution to Harry's weird connection to Voldemort.
One of my recent posts from i think it's V4 of this theory:
I did think all of the points people have raised through, though i was too tired to elobrate on it properly last night.
I did raise the point about Voldemort's soul possibly leaving an imprint of itself on Harry, which could explain how Harry got some of Voldemort's skills or we may all be barking up the wrong tree where magical power and souls are concerend:
Quote:
Harry sat in thought for a moment, then asked, 'So if all of his Horcruxes are destroyed, Voldemort could be killed ?'
'Yes i think so,' said Dumbledore. 'Without his Horcruxes, Voldemort will be a mortal man with a maimed and diminished soul. Never forget, though, that while his soul may be damaged beyond repair, his brain and magical power reamain intact. It will take uncommon skill and power to kill a wizard like Voldemort, even without his Horcruxes."
chapter 23, page 475 - the half blood prince, UK edition.
That susgests to me, that magical power and the power of a soul are two entirely different things. So if magical power and souls are seperate entitys, then it might mean that no transfer of soul between Harry and Voldemort took place. What may have occured when the killing curse back fired on Voldemort is just a simple transfer of magical power, and i believe Hagrid said that Harry's scar was the mark of a very evil and powerful curse. The blood protection that Harry got from Lilly's sacrafice would i believe as others have susgested prevented a piece of Voldemort's soul entering into either Harry's scar or his body. It may not have prevented a transfer of magical power, which is what might have forged a magical link between Harry and Voldemort. Harry's Soul is intact and he is still pure of heart. Voldemort may have given Harry some of his magical power and provided Harry with the only defence against the lure that Voldemorts kind of power has, which Dumbledore indicated was love. I think this all boils down to Harry and Voldemort being the opposites of two powers if you will ie
Voldemort's powers are from a very dark place and hence could be considered Evil.
Harry on the other hand has the power to love, which could be considered to be good.
Think of it like the magnetic poles ie Magnets that seek the magnetic North pole will resist the magnetic south pole and vice versa.
Bad job of explaining that.
Bake me some humble pie, because i think i will need to eat some by the time i've finished reading book 7. I do think that Harry or his scar being a Horcrux is a bit obivous, when you really think about it. But then again the most obvious things sometimes turn out to be correct. I think there is a 50-50 chance either way for this theory to be correct or entirely wrong. Rowling is devious with her plot threads.

Now would my fine Harry Potter loving friends give me an their take on what i've pasted above. I'm only adding in the stuff about being wrong to placate a certain poster that blows up everytime you even try and introduce a new idea that might god forbid contradict this persons ideas about the Harry Potter verse. I'm too old for flame wars these days and i really don't want to get myself banned, over a silly disagreement over the finer points of Harry Potter fanwank.
At the end of the day, i do believe Rowling has a big surprise up her sleeve in terms of what Harry's scar is. A horcrux would be a let down, it would make Dumbledore look foolish, unless he's left some memories behind for Harry telling him he or is scar is a Horcrux "Sorry Harry i forgot to tell you this, because i was praying Snape would end my suffering, after i was too slow with one of Voldemort's curses. Look after Fawkes for me old chap".
