It's basically a programme that shows how animals are prepared for the plate. People watched the slaughter process right down to eating the freshly killed animal. That may repulse some people, but here is what i was doing while watching it:
While the pigs were being slaughtered i was eating a ham sandwich. I did not feel remotely sick, just more hungry.
I guess I'm not squeamish and accept that to eat meat, animals have to be killed. Animals are cute and cuddly, but at the end of the day, you can't have it both ways i.e. humanising animals and then eating them, though not wanting to know where the meat you eat comes from.
Though I do not like intensive farming methods in animals. As it generally leads to poorer quality meat and less humane treatment of the animals in question. As Supermarkets don't really care about the animal, only about the time it takes to get it from the farm, slaughter house, processing plant to the fridges in the supermarkets.
The UK has very high standards in regards to meat production, though Europe is a bit lax at the moment. Though that will be changing sometime this year. Whereas other European nations will eat everything off an animal, we bin things that are classed as risk material i.e. the material from the cows that can contain BSE ergo CJD.
Though It's not all rosy in the UK. There are some really dodgy farmers and slaughter houses that will sell meat that is unfit for human consumption and indeed not worth feeding to a dog to kebab shops, curry houses.
That is my rant about where food comes over with. Next will be my rant about the new mental health bill (well it's been kicking around since 1998 or 1999).
