Various dumb laws from the US:

New York:
It is illegal for a woman to be on the street wearing "body hugging clothing.

Florida:
One may not commit any "unnatural acts" with another person.

Unmarried couples may not commit "lewd acts" and live together in the same residence.

Ohio:
It is illegal for more than five women to live in a house.

And now for some dumb English laws.....

All males over the age of 14 are to partake in 2 hours of longbow practice a week, which is to be supervised by a local member of the clergy.
It is illegal for a Member of Parliament to enter the House of Commons wearing a full suit of armour.
London taxi cabs must carry a bale of hay and a sack of oats.
Those wishing to use a television must apply for a license.
Mood:: 'amused' amused

Doesn't happen.

Unnatural acts? LOL!

That's a good law.

I practice with my longbow, don't you?

God forbid that should ever happen.

That's specific to hansom cabs.

That's just ridiculous.

I detect the smallest hint of innuendo in your reply.

Just the smallest hint? Oh, I just realised I missed the second Florida one. So does that mean we may commit lewd acts in the street?

How long does a bow have to be to count as long then?

Cause not all 14 year old boys may reach requirement

Now you're just down right naughty!

I'd imagine that a longbow should be about or just over the length of the boy himself, a good longbow, anyway. You have to match sizes to sizes, or else you get smaller boys trying to pull longer bows than they can handle. It puts a real strain on their muscles.

Pah, what tosh! They must make a bleeding fortune each year out of students living in halls of residence - or they would if everyone bought a licence. They raided my hall once - very funny experience :)

And with no trouble at all they started a flock of new channels to compete with digital. Well, if it wasn't the BBC doing it, the government would just take over the licencing :(

The Government controls the licencing via the BBC's Royal Charter which has been renewed recently.

I like this Texas law...

A recently passed anticrime law requires criminals to give their victims 24 hours notice, either orally or in writing, and to explain the nature of the crime to be committed.

I mean okaaaaaaaaay o_O

LOL!!!!

That's brilliant! Does the proposed victim get a chance to put forward an argument as to why they should not be the victim?

And does telling somebody, 'I'm going to get you good' count as an oral warning?

Does the criminal get a lesser sentence if s/he complies?

But do you get to put the criminal in the stocks and throw rotten turnips at him/her as a form of compensation for being notified of the crime beforehand ?
