At last. Don't think i missed much, apart from the Catholic Church hiding the true nature of the popes conidition from the world.
If he does die, then i shall remember him for what he did during WWII and some of the good things he did as pope. I don't really like him all that much.
But power of any kind can over time destroy somebodys resolve to get things done.

I never was a die-hard Catholic, but I do genuinely want the Pope to get better. And it doesn't hurt him that he's Polish, my grandmother was so happy to live to see a Polish Pope :OP .

I don't think he was Pope during WWII, was he? I thought it was his predecessor who fucked up?

I was reffering to what he did in WWII, not what he did as the pope. He did'nt become the Pope untill much later. His predecessor fucked up simply because the catholic church was more worried about surviving than the people who followed the catholic faith and what happend to the Jews and others who met their deaths at the hand of the Nazi's.
Jesus said to love all your fellow men, not just people you like.
Some of the blame on anti jewish feeling can be directly linked to the catholic church and it's policys towards Jews prior to Hitler gaining power and hood winking people into believing the Jews were not being sent into gas chambers or being worked to death in concentration camps or having medical experiments done on them. Perversely air travel as we know it today, may have taken longer to happen without the pressure chamber experiments Nazi scientists performed on the Jews and other undesireables untill in some cases their heads imploded. The catholic Church through out it's history has cared more for it's importance in the world, than the actuall words and teachings of Jesus. If Jesus is the messiah, i doubt he'll show up in rome, rather in Jerusalem, where everything began for him if christianity turns out to be correct.
