I'm stuck in the tardis

I met him at a uni event two years back. He was in the front of the queue at one of the campus night venues, welcoming people in. I wasn't in any mood to go to the thing, but I went up to him and told him how he used to scare me when I was a kid.

Then I asked him if the university was paying him enough for his visit and he put his hand on my shoulder and said, "Why do you think I'm standing here, looking like a twat?"
