That is first class stupidity. If US border guards were actually allowed to do their jobs, instead of being told to let people pass, then the immigration problem would be more controlable in the short term. It doesn't matter what the US does, however. As the push and pull factors for mexican's seeking work or a better life in the US are extremely tempting.
And the economy relies on Mexicans to fill jobs that most americans deem below them etc.
