Don't read if you haven't read the half blood prince.... I'm focusing on an error i believe Voldemort made in one of the books regarding Harry. This is a ramble, which does not make sense in places, but i'm sort of seeing a way in which Harry can defeat Voldemort.
This is for racquel and Julia to mince over and then laugh at it's inept nature.

I have two appointments coming up in the next few weeks. The first one is a physio appointment, i need to get my neck area checked out.
The second appointment and most important of all, is my pre op assement thing. Which will involve me being pined down probably so they can take blood samples, then a few X-rays.

I'm waiting to hear in the next two to four weeks about my laptop, which is being sent off to be fixed. If of course they can fix it. If not i'll probably get a new laptop or i may get an ibook instead.

The laptop should come in handy for when i'm in hospital, i'll probably write about my god awful experince of hospital food. That is of course if i stay overnight. Which i'm hoping against, as i'd rather be at home and away from any nasty super bugs.

My mood is rather flat at the moment, no real change.
I'm just feeling very lonely at the moment. But in a different way to feeling sorry for myself. I can't really explain it.
I feel hollow for some reason.

The cult of the celeb.

Where ever one goes in the west you see famous peoples faces splashed all over the place.
In magazines, newspapers, billboard posters etc
Nothing wrong with that you might say, but to me it represents the fact that we in the west are immune to the human suffering that happens across the globe.
Often declared by politicians as the thing we need to do, in order to protect ourselves.
But people get so caught up in following the lives of famous people, that they ignore the real news stories.
I for one do not want to hear about yet another sex tape made by Paris Hilton, who is a prime example of what this cult of the celeb can create. A superficial figure that has no real value to what is going on.
I know people like to have a bit of escapism in their lives, but the cult of the celeb takes it too far.

People get disconnected from the reality of the world we live in. As long as we feel safe in our beds knowing that our leaders are doing the right things, and that we can read about the latest famous person falling for another famous etc all is well with the world.
This however leads to ignorance, which leads down the slippery path of Nihlisim. The belief in nothing. Which is exactly what the cult of the celeb is.
I see no real value in being a fan of a famous person. I admire people like Thom Yorke, but i am not obsessed if he eats cheesecake with Micheal Stipe and other famous people/
For the most part Mr Yorke has a lot of things to say that are worthwhile listening to.
As for me, i am a fan of Radiohead's music, not the people who are in the band.

The West is probably in the decline that the roman empire saw before it fell. The amount of films that have no real story to tell are starting to annoy me and worry me.
They are mainly pointless drivel about some big macho hero who has to go kick some butt to save the world and get the girl. Which is fine if you want a bit of brainless fun at the cinema.
But there are just too many of those films kicking around.

The last really good film i saw was the city of god, a brazilian film with subtitles.

People however lap these brainless films up like they are something special. Which they clearly aren't.
This leads to my perception of the west being in a decayed state, only out for what it can get.
Which is nothing new. But is on a new level, due to the ravages the West in general has inflicted on the environment.
Oil consumption has ethier kick started the warming of the worlds seas or is speeding up a natural process.

We also have nuclear bombs which can destroy us all. That might sound like some paranoid fanatasy.
But the reality is at some point, our luck will run out and some madman in a position of power will use them.

There is also the lack of concern for human rights across the globe, just so long as the followers of the cult of the celeb get their hands on the latest fashions, who cares about the poor people who scrape a living from making these items.

I am not an angry person by nature, but my anger is roused when i see people consuming news about famous people and then telling me to cheer up and to stop watching the news.
That is an ill informed view point. I do have my paranoid excessess, but i fear the future. We could slip back into a dark age, where human beings do nothing but kill each other.
And all the developments that help mankind in peaceful ways stop.

Kid A by radiohead is the perfect soundscape to my nightmare vision of the future. I can't see things changing. Eventually this path that people are taking, the idea that famous people are gods, will lead us into the trap which is one we have created for ourselves. And those who do believe in something more than a superficical notion, will take advantage of this.
It may well not happen in my life time. But we are doomed if we devote ourselves to the cult of the celeb.
And ignore the aspects of life that make things worth living. Questioning our existence, pushing science in new directions and most of all being fair to our fellow brothers and sisters.
That is to say the rest of human kind. We are all the same, the only differences are ones of culture and religion.
