Freema Agyeman will be the Doctors new companion

The BBC rather stupidly sent journalists an email with a link to a press release which has been embargoed until 00:01am Wednesday 5 July 2006.

thanks to popbitch, which is actually useful sometimes.

She will be playing a different character (probably the twin sister of the woman turned into a cyberman puppet, simple and no need for any complex sci-fi explainations like it's the alt copy of the character), though she will not be in the christmas special (which means Captain Jack will probably turn up, Julia please don't squee ye pants).

She could be the Alt!universe version of Adeola or a whole new unrelated person like Gwen is in Torchwood (although its obvious Gwen's got some connection to Gwyneth)

That would be predictable and boring, though i think you are right about Gwen (probably distantly related to Gwyneth, say Gweneth had a sister she did not know about, you know workhouses and the like).
Apprently the Ice Warriors might be back for series 3 of Doctor Who. If they then they need to overhaul the design a bit.
